I just downloaded Zone Alarm but when I finish with the settings my computer restarts on its own (read below) ?

It sounds like it is conflicting with an old firewall program. First, go into your control panel. Start, control panel. Go into add and remove programs and find out if you still have any in there. If you know what you used to have, go online and search for that product, tool remover. Symantec is one that conflicts badly and often comes with the comptuer. They have tool removers that are easy to get too. Nortons is symantec. Anyway, find the product and get a full tool remover. Just uninstalling rarely removes the entire thing. That’s why they make a tool remover. It does remove all of it. Then uninstall Zone alarm and then reinstall it. It should then work properly. If your virus protection had a firewall built in, make sure you get it’s tool remover as well.
some other piece of a firewall is causing this. Good luck.
