Is there a way to disable annoying video ads on websites?

CODY & PRINNY’S MAMA asked:

I use opera and an older version of IE for my Windows Xp. My PC is old and slow. Some web pages take forever to load and video ads and pages are slowing up my PC. I use ccleaner, fire alarm zone, an antivirus / malware programs from the antis na spy. Is there a way to disable this? Is there a way to make my PC faster? Thanks a lot.

I am very familiar with a Firefox add-on called Flashblock that does exactly what you want. It will allow you to selectively view flash animations of all types. I wasn’t sure if there was a version for Opera but apparently there is. I can tell you that the FF version is the bomb. I consider it an absolute essential along with Ad Block Plus. Web pages become cleaner and uncluttered and render much faster.

BTW the Opera version of Flashblock is here:

You can block 90% of ALL ads with MVPS Hosts file. Pages will load much faster when they don’t have to download the ads.

“You can use a HOSTS file to block ads, banners, 3rd party Cookies, 3rd party page counters, web bugs, and even most hijackers. This is accomplished by blocking the connection(s) that supplies these little gems.”

Does not matter what browser that you use.

This is optional >>>>Once you have them blocked, you can make your blocked adverts look “purdy” with Homer. ( optional.)

“Now that you’re blocking ads and sites with your hosts file, Speed up your browsing experience by serving an image of your choice to fill in where those ads would have normally been.”

    Both are free.
