Would I still need a firewall for a secured connection on a wireless router?

Dear you will always need a separate software based firewall to protect yourself.
Comodo and Zonealaram are both good
Zonealaram = Best for its simplicity and ease of use but average protection
Comodo = Excellent protection and many awards winner, but has lots of customization options.
I always trust Comodo.

Firewalls offers an extra layer of protection when browsing the internet. However, it is not very necessary if you are referring to home computers. Hackers seldom waste time trying to break in to those computers since they yield so little information. They will expend their energy on larger corporate targets. They will have more to brag about there.
If you have another firewall use it. But, apart from the one offered by xp and your router I would not be bothered about it.
Be sure to properly encrypt your router and a secure password. Change all default settings. You apparantly already done so.

In theory, a router is a hardware firewall: it directs incoming traffic to a specific address behind the router (computer a, b, c, etc) so it’s a partial solution. The trouble is, another computer behind the router (i.e. on a network) may have some garbage malware, and (again in theory) could infect other networked units; if configurations are set (and there are thousands of them).
So, I would use a firewall behind a router. Better safe than sorry.
Zone alarm is not to bad, but getting a little top heavy.
Try Avast! anti virus, which has a built-in firewall; it’s free and does a nice job all around.
